Five for Blogging

1. On the first day of spring, I nearly ran over a robin. 2. It snowed yesterday. Not as much as the weatherheads said it would, but enough to be ironic. 3. I once accidentally ran into a Canadian goose. It tried to fly away before impact, but it was too late. I still remember seeing it roll to the side of the road in my rearview mirror. I still feel guilty about that. 4. Would somebody be a dear and buy me all the Mystery Science Theater 3000 DVDs? Pretty please? 5. One of these days I'm going to articulate the many reasons Arrested Development is one of the greatest TV shows ever, but until then these folks do a heck of a job!(Thanks to X-Ray Spex for the link)

It Don't Worry Me

I just got my tax refund check and all the money is practically spent. I need more tax refund checks...Today is the official first day of spring and it's supposed to snow...I recently came up with a killer idea for a theme restaurant. I call it Anime Buffet and it features Japanese pop culture! Just imagine booths in shapes of robots and giant monsters with Japanese waitresses wearing blue and purple wigs. It would be just like Jack Rabbit Slim, but with an Asian flair! If my idea appeals to your inner investor, just float some capital my way!...While flipping through some channels last night, I stumbled upon Nashville on TMC and I'm glad I did. I've only seen the last half-hour of it before so I was curious to see the rest of it. I missed the very beginning of it, but I didn't mind. I enjoyed it immensely and I've been thinking about it all day. I want to see it again. I wonder if it is out on DVD?...I just checked and it is...Okay, I just bought it. What did I say about needing more tax checks?

Ketchup

Time to play catch-up...

Last Saturday Midsummer finally ended and we went out on top! We had our largest audience closing night and they were very enthusiastic. Despite some minor reservations at first, I'm really glad to have been part of such a great show. I had a good time working with a talented cast and director! It was also great to finally share the stage with my friends Joe Skeen, Judy Cole, and Jerry Cole! While parting is such a sweet sorrow, I hope I have a chance to work with all these creative folks in the near future!

Last Sunday

It was Sopranos Sunday and, in honor of the new season, we celebrated with spaghetti and garlic bread (I was hoping to have some baked ziti as well, but the cost and the time made me reconsider. Yes, I know I'm cheap and lazy!). Eric cooked everything up with his usually panache (See picture up above for proof) and, like Tony Soprano, we all took one in the gut. Fortunately for us, pasta is not as painful as a bullet!

Last Monday-Friday I went back to second shift at Touchy Feely Fotos and the typical drudgery ensued. I'll spare you the details.

Yesterday I spent nearly six hours watching an Endurance marathon on Discovery Kids. Then I did my laundry. I'll spare you the details.

I am that Same Wall

In this same interlude, it doth befall
That I, one Snout by name, present a wall;
And such a wall as I would have you think
That had in it a crannied hole or chink,
Through which the lovers, Pyramus and Thisbe,
Did whisper often, very secretly.
This loam, this rough-cast, and this stone doth show
That I am that same wall; the truth is so.
And this the cranny is, right and sinister,
Through which the fearful lovers are to whisper.

Wounded Knee

Once again another performance of Midsummer is now just a sweet memory. We crossed the boards with our usual gusto and entertained mightily. I did have a slight mishap when I ran knees first into a bench backstage and I briefly saw stars. Minor, reality TV-type stars, but stars none the less. Fortunately, I was able to shake it off, but I'm afraid my knees will feel it in the morning.

Wet Dream

After a few days off, we were back putting on Midsummer to a small, but appreciative audience. It has been a major rain day around these parts which brought some flooding to the Civic's basement dressing room. Despite some unpleasant odor seeping from below, the show went off without a hitch. The lovers really rocked in the second act and us rustics did pretty well, too. Just two more nights and the dream is over. The Star Press had a positive review for the show in Wednesday's paper though some of the cast didn't see it as too complementarily. I didn't think it was too bad. Not the greatest review, but certainly not the worst

Saturday Night Dead

Last night's performance of Midsummer was pretty painful. The audience we performed for consisted of the living dead. It's unfortunate we didn't serve brains during intermission because the Civic could have made a fortune from those zombies. Man, their silence was deafening! Those folks definitely won't be swiping the crown from our killer opening night audience. Very disappointing.

Show and Tell

Just got back from the big show's opening night and I'm happy to say we really rocked the casaba! Everybody was firing on all cylinders tonight and the audience really ate it up with a spoon! It's so wonderful to get such a positive reaction from a great audience on our first night out. I just hope we'll be able to sustain tonight's momentum throughout the rest of the run. I think we can, but for right now I'm the happiest wall in the world!
